What is the difference between Sinterted Stone and Porcelain?
December 21,2021.

As the "outlet" of the current era, Sintered Stone is a new type of decorative material and is applied to products in different fields. Its excellent performance is also increasingly favored by consumers, designers and home customization manufacturers.

Sintered Stone actually evolved from Porcelain and is the result of product update iterations. It may be said that Sintered Stone is an upgraded version of porcelain tiles, but it is definitely not a porcelain. The Sintered Stone is rock not porcelain, slab is not brick, it is a new type of slab. Regardless of the excellent physical properties of rock slabs, the identity of rock slabs is the biggest difference from ceramic tiles.

Sintered Stone slabs are often mistaken for tiles with larger specifications, but in fact, compared to porcelain tiles, Sintered Stone are not only larger, but are significantly different from porcelain tiles in terms of raw materials, craftsmanship, physical properties, and application range.

01 Different raw materials

The raw material of the Sintered Stone is a mixture of quartz stone, granite and clay. It is a new type of material with high-tech achievements, and to a certain extent belongs to a new category of building materials. The raw materials for Porcelain are mostly mixed with clay and quartz sand. After grinding, mixing, pressing, glazing and sintering, a kind of acid and alkali-resistant porcelain or stone is formed.

02 Different scope of application

The application range of Sintered Stone is wide, the overall decoration effect is strong, and the realistic marble pattern. No matter whether it is used in large spaces or in home decoration, the visual effect shows the atmosphere and the spatial grade is improved. It can also be used as a countertop decoration material in the kitchen and bathroom space. And this is not what porcelain tiles can do.

03 The development process is different

Porcelain tiles are made of refractory metal oxides and semi-metal oxides through the process of grinding, mixing, pressing, glazing, and sintering. The Sintered Stone is made of natural raw materials through a special process, pressed with a press of more than 10,000 tons, combined with advanced production technology, and fired at a high temperature above 1200°C.
